Here’s a more recent film. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are back, ten years after the hilarious Step Brothers movie. The first thing I have to ask is, really? Ten years after Step Brothers and the next movie we get with this duo is this piece of shit? What were they thinking? The film is supposed to be a humorless, I mean, humorous take on the classic Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson books. Two or three times I got a slight chuckle while watching the movie, but that was really it. It tells the story of how Holmes (Ferrell) and Watson (Reilly) met and came to be the greatest detective duo, except Holmes becomes very self-absorbed as time goes on. The two go on a journey to apprehend Holmes’ nemesis, Professor James Moriarty (Ralph Fiennes), and they do other stuff, quite frankly I stopped caring about the film’s plot, that’s how much I hated it. The film is also filled with unfunny modern-day references, such as “you have to pay to view this fight” in one scene and “let’s take a self photograph” in another scene while parodying the selfie stick and the duck face. References to Donald Trump are also in the film, which made me ask, “Really? Do you really have to bring in how much you hate the current president into a movie set in 19th century?” The one time I had a slight laugh was when Holmes puts on a cap that says “Make London Great Again.” in the color and lettering of the typical MAGA hats. Lastly, the writers either didn’t care or didn’t bother to do any research as towards the end of the film, the Titanic, yes the TITANIC, which was made and sunk in 1912, is in the freaking film, which is set in the 19th Century! I absolutely hated this film and I am ashamed to admit that I spent $15 on this garbage! Do. Not. Watch. This. Film. EVER!! Just don’t, save yourselves! Don’t waste your life on this film!! I rate this film ATROCIOUS on the scale.
